DUTCH SOUVENIRS - MILAN 2003

European Ceramics Work Centre - Dutch Souvenirs

The Dutch Souvenirs project is about the phenomenon of reproducible ceramic objects that are sold in the Netherlands as souvenirs. While these souvenirs do make reference to Dutch culture, they are mostly caught in the cliché trap.

With the intention of making the concept of the modern-day souvenir a topic of discussion, the EKWC invited 41 Dutch and foreign designers and visual artists to develop a new vision of the Dutch souvenir. The results of the project Dutch Souvenirs will be presented in Milan in a refreshing manner.

The European Ceramics Work Centre (EKCW) is a workshop in the Netherlands where participants and staff members explore the artistic and technical possibilities of ceramics as a medium. Experiments are being conducted to find new ways of presenting ceramics.
The acquired knowledge and experience is being spread nationally as well as internationally. The goal is to encourage the development of ceramic art and design.
