Dutch Delight - Floating by Scholten and Baijings

Floating means 'gliding' as well as 'drifting' and as such conveys the position of the work of Scholten and Baijings: somewhere between art and design; in between the demands made on applied work and the complete freedom of autonomous art.

The designers get their inspiration from their own lives and everything that moves and occupies them. They feel free to choose the best form for every new idea. The one time it results in a piece of furniture, the other in an object, drawing or photo. It provides the designers the freedom to create autonomous work as well as applied work.

Carpets

Eight Unique Carpets and two Pieces of Jewellery is a project whereby weaving remnants of a weaving factory were used. The carpets and pieces of jewellery were created with 'making gold out of remnants' as a starting point.
