1000 hours

1000 hours Jacob Alkema 2005

The genesis of this object was just a funny experiment. This first object lasted only a few hours, but the beautiful shining of the highly polished resin made a lasting impression. You buy one, you get 10! Because the temperature of this objects stays low it's possible to place them like a candle on a sill or bookshelf, without worrying about curtains or books……

The name of the lamp comes from the standard lifecycle of an incandescent lamp à 1000 hours. Due to a lot of research this object will last over 15.000 hours (15 years of burning, 3 hours a day). '1000 hours' is really an ode to the incandescent lamp in an era of Fluorescent, LED and Neon lighting.

Materials: resin, Osram light bulbs

Colour

Colour Jacob Alkema 2006

This suspension lamp is made of a range of (semi) transparent layers of PMMA. The patterns of the colours can vary, adjusted to the atmosphere and colours of one's home. The technique of glueing the PMMA and pouring the resin is highly innovative and experimental.

Materials: PMMA, resin, aluminium. Type of lighting: High Power LED.
