Artifort Hal 12 An homage to the French designer Pierre Paulin. This is a very special year for Artifort. Pierre Paulin, who continues to help define the Artifort style, will be 80 years old. This French designer has been active for 60 years, and has designed for Artifort for 50 of them. This is a unique event that we will be celebrating in style. By resuming production of old but timeless, progressive designs. Sometimes with a slight modification, as in the case of Le Chat (F 574) and the ABCD sofa (C 261). Paulin, celebrated for his modern classics such as Ribbon, Orange Slice, Butterfly, Tongue and Mushroom, is once again getting the best out of production techniques and materials with the modified Le Chat. He has sought out the limits of line with apparent ease. But, once again, surprisingly. An invitation to get acquainted.
The shape of the ABCD bank by Pierre Paulin seems to be derived from an egg-box. The curves in the seat provide everyone with their own armrest and ensure a safe distance between the people sitting on it. This makes the ABCD sofa ideal for hotel lobbies and lounges.
Artifort F 574, Le Chat, looks as if it were designed with a single movement of the pen. The backrest and seat seem to leap out of the rear base. This is the source of its interplay of lines. And it makes the chair both inviting and dynamic. A pleasure to sit on. With Le Chat, Pierre Paulin used aluminium profiles for the first time as a base. Later, he also used them for the F 598, one of Artifort's classics. In 1969, Le Chat deservedly won the Monza Design Award.
